Tayto Park has confirmed it has applied to Meath County Council for planning permission for a 32,000sqm hotel with 250 bedrooms.
The hotel will offer accommodation and leisure facilities for up to 1,000 guests when completed.
It is expected to cost in the region of €48m to build.
Tayto plans to build the hotel from wood to be in keeping with the look and feel of Tayto Park and the parkland setting.
The hotel will include a spa, meeting rooms and a function room that can accommodate up to 1,200 people as well as two sky bars and three restaurants.
It is estimated the hotel will provide 150 jobs during construction, and 272 full and part-time jobs when completed.
No details have emerged yet about what will be on offer in any of the restaurants – but chances are there will be a crisp sandwich on the menu.
