Bearing this in mind and that of the budgetary constraints within MCC, I welcome the Department’s enthusiasm to explore possible mechanisms to facilitate the mutual objectives of the delivery of Linear Park and the achievement of value for money for the exchequer.

MCC has an allocated fund for the delivery of Ashbourne’s Li Park; should the acquisition of the necessary land take up all, if not the majority, of this fund there will be less finance available to MCC for the purchase and installation of walkways, benches, lighting, playground and other such amenities.
“I understand the position of the Department of Education and the need to recoup monies paid for this land when purchased at auction a number of years ago; however, it is heartening to learn that the Minister intends to achieve this whilst simultaneously facilitating the progression of the Linear Park within a short period of time.”
